Singapore welcomed 266 ophthalmologists from 15 countries on 25 April 2026 for the Foresight 2026 Cataract Surgery Symposium organised by Alcon. Spanning 4 programmes and featuring 22 Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) over 10 hours of live content, it was one of the region's most substantial cataract surgery gatherings of the year.

Adj A/Prof Au Eong Kah Guan, Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist and Medical Director at IECRC was among those in attendance. “Foresight 2026 was a valuable opportunity to see how the next generation of ophthalmic technology, and advanced lens implants will change the lives of our patients,” said Adj A/Prof Au Eong. “The conference focused on new ways to make cataract surgery even more precise and recovery times even faster. I am excited to bring these innovations back to our practice, offering our patients clear vision and the most personalised care possible,” he added.

Connecting Across the Region

One of the highlights was the opportunity to connect with Dr Tsiang Ung, Consultant Ophthalmologist at International Specialist Eye Centre (ISEC) Penang, Malaysia. UK-trained and fellowship-qualified from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Dr Tsiang specialises in cataract surgery, oculoplastics, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.

These cross-border connections reflect something we genuinely value — the ophthalmic community across Singapore and Malaysia is a close one, and gatherings like Foresight only strengthen that.

What It Means for Our Patients

Keeping current with the latest in cataract surgery feeds directly into the care our patients receive at IECRC. Foresight 2026 was a timely reminder of why continuous learning and peer exchange remain central to everything we do.
