Ms Ng Shu Yi is Clinic Manager and Optometrist at International Eye Cataract Retina Centre in Farrer Park Medical Centre. She graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a Diploma in Optometry in 2013 and from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in management in 2018.
Shu Yi started her optometric career in a retail practice in 2013 before transiting to clinical eye care in 2014 at International Eye Cataract Retina Centre. She completed a one-year hands-on Fellowship in Clinical Eye Care at International Eye Cataract Retina Centre in 2015 where she had on-the-job training in diagnosing and managing eye diseases as well as assisting in minor eye surgeries.
Shu Yi has participated in several vision screening projects both locally and overseas as well as in other overseas community welfare missions. She gave a lecture on “The Ageing Eye” at a public forum held in conjunction with the Age-related Macular Degeneration Awareness Week in 2015. She also gave a lecture on “Interpreting Fundus Photographs” at the Singapore Primary Eye Care Symposium (SPECS) 2018. Shu Yi was also the Chairman of the Finance Subcommittee for SPECS 2017 and 2018.
Shu Yi has a cheerful deposition and enjoys the interpersonal interactions and rapport she has built with her patients from all over the world. The smiles from her patients is what drives her and keeps her keenly engaged in her profession.
