Continuing Medical Education (CME) for medical professionals refers to a specific form of continuing education that helps those in the medical field maintain competence and learn about new and developing areas in their chosen field. This include CME lectures as well as scientific meetings and symposia.
As part of their professional development, ophthalmologists and optometrists from International Eye Cataract Retina Centre attended the 8th International Ophthalmology Congress on 5-6 October 2018 to update and upgrade themselves. Organised by National Healthcare Group (NHG) Eye Institute, the congress was held at Max Atria, Singapore Expo. Dr Au Eong Kah Guan, Dr Ajeet Madhav Wagle, Dr Joy Chan as well as optometrists Mr Chong Wee Hou, Ms Goh Jiah Ying and Ms Por Jia Yee Davina had a fruitful experience at the congress.
The theme of the congress was “Dilemmas in Ophthalmology”. The congress provided new perspectives on clinical dilemmas through panel discussions, case presentations and debates by various renowned speakers. The topics discussed included cataract, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, uveitis and paediatric ophthalmology. The doctors and optometrists were updated on new advances in eye treatment and surgery as well as technological advances in clinical equipment in aiding the diagnosis of eye conditions. They were also able to catch up with old friends and form new ties with other eye care professionals.
