Mr Chong Wee Hou has been an optometrist in International Eye Cataract Retina Centre since July 2017. He graduated from Cardiff University in Wales, United Kingdom, with a Bachelor of Science in Optometry with Honours in 2014. Wee Hou also obtained the Fellowship of British Dispensing Opticians (FBDO) in 2012.
Before joining International Eye Cataract Retina Centre, Wee Hou practised optometry in a retail optical outlet for two years. He also worked as a dispensing optician in the Cardiff University School of Optometry and Vision Sciences’ eye clinic prior to graduating from the university.
Wee Hou is trained to provide eye care services to his patients including testing patients’ eyes with sophisticated and advanced ophthalmic equipment. He is passionate about eye care and has a special interest in low vision. He currently leads the Low Vision Service in International Eye Cataract Retina Centre.
Wee Hou was Chairman of the Facilities Subcommittee for the inaugural Singapore Primary Eye Care Symposium (SPECS) 2017 on 11-12 September 2017. He also chaired all the scientific sessions during the symposium. He is the Co-Chairman of SPECS (Mandarin) 2018 and Chairman of the Facilities Subcommittee for SPECS (English) 2018.
